Our Story

Hampshire Cheeses, an award-winning, artisan cheesemaker, has joined the ranks of the best cheeses in the world. Home to the much-loved Tunworth and Winslade, we are proud to produce the finest, handcrafted soft cheeses, winning awards year after year. Fans of our cheese include some of the top names in the food world – “The best Camembert in the world!”, Raymond Blanc, “My favourite melting cheese is a ripe Tunworth”, Nigel Slater, “Tunworth is a staple ingredient of my kitchen … because it is a world-class cheese with a well-deserved international reputation”, Simon Rogan. From the first ladle of milk from the local farm to the paper wrap and box packaging, every cheese is made by hand, using traditional methods and in French-style ‘bassines’, with expert skill and true passion.

Hampshire Cheeses have scooped the most prestigious cheese awards, including Supreme Champion in the British Cheese Awards, Best Soft Cheese in the Great British Cheese Awards, Super Gold Medal at the World Cheese Awards, Gold at the Artisan Cheese Awards and Supreme Champion Waitrose Small Producer Award. We provide Tunworth and Winslade to Michelin-starred restaurants throughout the world, including Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, The Ritz, L’Enclume and Hawksmoor, and appearing on tables from Hong Kong to San Francisco, and are stocked by prestigious retailers, including Fortnum & Mason, Selfridges, Harrods, Neal’s Yard Dairy and Waitrose.

Founded by Stacey Hedges, making the first Tunworth prototype in her family kitchen, and Charlotte Spruce, our Hampshire Cheeses are made by a specialist team in a dairy nestled in the heart of the green valleys of Hampshire.
